GORGOROTH , groupe de true black metal de Norvege
GORGOROTH (Plaine désertique du Mordor dans Le Seigneur des Anneaux de Tolkien) est fondé en 1992, à Bergen en Norvège, par Hat (chant), Goat (batterie) et Infernus (guitares). Ils donnent alors dans un Black Metal agressif et malsain.
Le groupe est marqué par de nombreux changements de line-up (si bien que Infernus est le seul membre d'origine qui fasse encore partie du groupe en compagnie de King à la basse et de Gaahl au chant) mais on retiendra tout demême le passage de certains grands noms du Black Metal tels que Pest (Obtained Enslavement...),Ares (Aeternus...), Samoth (EMPEROR...),Daimonion (BORKNAGAR , ENSLAVED...) ou encore Frost (1349, SATYRICON, GEHENNA KEEP OF KALESSIN...).
Ils sortent leur première démo "A Sorcery Written in Blood" en 1993 mais se font réellement connaitre l'année suivante avec la sortie de leur première album "Pentagram". Ils confirment en 1996 avec "Antichrist" qui leur permet de jouer avec des groupes tels que CRADLE OF FILTH , SATYRICON , DISSECTION . En 1998, le groupe signe chez Nuclear Blast et sort "Destroyer" ainsi que "Incipit Satan" et "Twilights of the Idols" avant de changer une nouvelle fois de label pour se tourner vers Regain Records en 2005.
