ANCIENT

Au départ ANCIENT était un projet solo du guitariste et compositeur norvégien Aphazel en 1992, celui-ci développe assez vite son projet de Black Metal atmosphérique et puissant avec Grimm (chanteur et batteur).
Le duo sort une démo et un 7 en 1993 et 94 qui leur feront une réputation dans la scène Black Metal et seront remarqué par Listenable Records/Osmose qui leur permettront de sortir un premier album (Svartalvheim) qui est devenu un des disques les plus vendus dans ce genre musical et considéré de nos jours comme un classique du Black Metal.
En 1995 ils sortent un maxi et Grimm quitte le groupe, Aphazel part alors au Etats-Unis et recrute Lord Kaiaphas comme chanteur et sorte un album "The Cainian Chronicle" qui deviendra également un classique du genre.
Quelques changements de line-up surviennent et un nouvel album sort avec le nouveau guitariste Jesus Christ et la chanteuse Erichte et suivent une tournée mondiale en 1998.
Aphazel décide de partir en Italie et avec Jesus Christ et le nouveau batteur Krigse ils sortent un album en 1999 d'un style un peu plus heavy, Dhilorz est recruté à la basse et Krigse est remplacé par Grom.
Ancient a sortie de nombreux albums et ont fait de nombreux concerts les années suivantes et ils décident alors de conquérir le Underground avec une tournée extensive et des shows live impressionnants
